Beyer High School Robotics Workshop, 1717 Sylvan Ave. Modesto
About the camp curriculum:
Students will work together in small groups throughout the week to think critically, analyze data, and prototype creative solutions to solve problems with real-world relevance. Students of all learning levels will build confidence and resilience along with the 21st century skills that are vital to their future success! The small groups will be lead by high school students from the competitive Iron Patriots Robotics team. Many of our past campers have gone on to join our high school team which is open to all area high school students.
Morning Session - 4rd - 6th grade (current grade levels 22/23 school year)
Students will learn valuable STEM skills using LEGO Spike Prime. Combining colorful LEGO building elements, easy-to-use hardware, and an intuitive drag-and-drop coding language based on Scratch, SPIKE Prime continuously engages students through playful learning activities to think critically and solve complex problems, regardless of their learning level. From easy-entry projects to limitless creative design possibilities, including the option to explore text-based coding with Python, SPIKE Prime helps students learn the essential STEAM and 21st century skills needed to become the innovative minds of tomorrow... while having fun! 6th graders with no prior robotics may want to choose this morning session.
Afternoon Session - 6th - 8th grade (current grade levels 22/23 school year)
Students will learn valuable STEM skills using TETRIX Programmable Robotics Kits. When students are immersed in STEM and understand how it affects their futures, that’s when they really engage. TETRIX robotics offers a great tool for building STEM interest and sustaining enthusiasm as Students are challenged to solve real-world problems using critical-thinking, collaboration, and innovation skills. Its simple and intuitive design enables robotic creations to come to life quickly, meaning students can focus more on problem-solving and applying STEM knowledge. 6th graders with previous robotics classes or teams may want to choose this afternoon session.
